Default Headers (gaskets or sealent)

got an lq4 with a nasty header gasket leak. I assume the best option is to run gaskets but im new to these motors so im all ears. If gaskets are the way to go will fel pro do the trick? would be nice to snag some from my local parts store instead of ordering them.

Get the GM MLS steel gaskets if possible, otherwise find some Percy's layered aluminum gaskets.

Ive always preferred Fel Pro gaskets from the local parts store. I went through Kooks gaskets, and New GM MLS before the fel pros made it seal. Ive used them on 3 motors with great results.

What do you guys think about using ultra black? I've had a couple people say I should use the sealent over gaskets.

On thing is that to make sure and retorque the bolts a couple of times until the gaskets are seated.

No that silicone wont work, for one itultra black has a max temp of 500 degrees and headers hold exhaust gases up to 2000 degrees... Just use good gaskets...

Only use the stock GM gaskets. Trust me! I went through so many gaskets trying to figure out what works and I finally went with the GM ones. They work flawlessly!

Use the felpro and see how they work since you obviously already bought them. Sealent absolutely should not be necessary, nor used on headers. Headers get far too hot for sealent like ultra black to do any good.

Fel-pro should be ok. Do not use any form of sealant.
