i own an 06 GTO m6 and a 00 Z28 m6. For the money i would take the f body time and time again. I could have bought 2 decent f bodys for the price of the gto.
GTO PRO's
Easy to work on. The engine bay is wide open like a vette.
Very comfy ride
The interior is the best i have seen out of GM in a long time.
Dont see them very often.
Cons
Very specific parts and very limited production
Suspension is crap strait from the factory
The independent rear doesnt like much over stock power
The 2 piece rubber drive shaft and carrier bering is a joke.
The composite rubber axles with weak stubs is a joke.
Wiring problems all over the car.
The BCM isnt made any more and people have been waiting over 6 months for a replacement with none to come as of yet.
Very specific wheels have to be used to run any type of tire or u have to mini tub it.
The only car the gto shares its stud size is BMW. So its either expensive gto specific wheels or bmw wheels.
I traded my 99 m6 c5 for the GTO. The worst decision i have ever made.
I did a heads, cam, long tube, solid motor mounts and a clutch on my buddys 04 CTSV. Pain in the *** to work on.
I had Heads, cam, long tubes, ported intake, full suspension, clutch and nt05 on the rear of my GTO. Destroyed the ctsv but the baby cammed f body could hang with the gto.
