Question How does the oiling ststem work in a 6.0

I have a 2001 LQ4 that busted a valve in #2 cyl which busted a hole in the piston. My question is does the oil go through the filter first, then the bearings, or what? I was curious if I needed to worry about any small pieces ending up screwing up other bearings, or just fix the problem....the motor only has 30,000 miles on it, so no need to change all the bearings if the filter caught anything, right?

Thanks for the input guys.

im with ^^^^ this guy. $40 worth of bearings, will cost you about $100 at a machine shop to have the block cleaned. well worth it to me to spend the extra $ up front to know i have a solid motor down the road. do it right the first time. but then again i also don't gamble at all most i will do is gamble for a coke at the end of 18 holes of golf LOL. just my .02

I'd like to know where you are getting all bearings for 40 bucks. Last I checked rod and cam bearings came in around 40 bucks each set, then around 100 just for the mains...plus machine work.

Clean out the pan, and pick up and run it. The filter would have caught anything that got past the pickup screen.

Yup cousin of mine just went through the process of needing new cam bearings while doing a 228r cam swap in his LQ4. Lol Common thing with these blocks. He just bought a lower miled LQ4 block instead of fixing the other one.
