My Craiglist Find.. Took a little drive but I found a good working LT1 T56 Tranny with supposedly low miles for $500. On top of it I found $100 on the way. Now I'm currently working on a LQ4 swap in my 1990 Iroc Z. So I figured either I get this tranny converted to LS1 but if it's too expensive or hard to do I will just sell it and get what I need.
An LQ4 would be solid in a Iroc.

I thought of that too but unless I find a LS1 T-56 with ultra low miles I will still have to prepared for a rebuild. At this price I think I'm still ahead of the game thats why I had to pick it up.

definitely ahead of the game - nothing worse than putting in a used tranny and finding out it's crap. Definitely rebuild before you get your hands dirty installing.

I like you found an LT1 T56 on craigslist for $500. Needs a rebuild but the core charges alone are usually 750-900 depending on the company.
