Default Building a LS motor

Hello everyone I want to swap my LT1 for a LS motor but I have a brand new 383 bare block, I want to know if I can use this to start on a LS engine build.
I am a mechanic for the DCFD so I have some engine building skills but not good enough to build a hi performance engine so any advice will be very helpful and greatly appreciated.

Is this 383 of the GENII SBC family or GENIII-IV LS family?

Then no you cannot use this for a LS build. There is nothing in common with the GEN III-IV LS series engines except the fact of being a 8cyl.

Ok thanks a lot N20zuki for the info, since I can't use the 383 then I will look for what I
really want is a LS3 motor.
If I can get rid of the gen I 383 block and buy a gen III block I will start with that if not
then I will go with the LS3 long block or turn key.
