Ws6 Badging
Ok so I have a 99 Formula Ws6 with a Hurst m6. According to here, https://ls1tech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=942214&page=7 it's one of twelve! They only made 175 that year any way. There's just one thing, it doesn't have the Ws.6 badging on it. Just would like to learn some info on that and see what ya'll had to say about it. Thanks!

Check your RPO codes in the driver's side door. They will tell you everything you need to know about your car. If the sticker is missing, you can use your vin# and get the same information. The badge could have just been taken off by previous owner..

I've checked it before, it checks out. But I'm in Talladega right now. I live in east Tennessee, I'm just eager to know. I noticed it a looong time ago but didnt think it was anything. Then looking at some pics of others, I noticed they pretty much all had it, but not mine.

The badge was probably just removed/stolen/damaged and never replaced. If you already verified that it was a WS6 via the VIN, then it did have the badge at one point.
If you can't remember what your SPID sticker said, and you're not near the car, all you need is your VIN to look up all the RPOs. You can either do this yourself through www.compnine.com or you can take your VIN to any GM dealer and have the parts department print a VIS report that will list every RPO for a given VIN.

If I had the RPO or vin convenient to me right now, this wouldn't be a problem. But I'm away from home. Darn! Thanks for all the help, I will certainly use that website in the future! Does it help that it looks like this? Attachment 422434

There is no "WS6 motor", only a WS6 specific lower air box and air lid decal - which, as you have pointed out, the one in this picture does in fact display.
And I agree, sounds like the OP verified the RPO at some point in the past so the badge is just simply missing - for one of any number of reasons.

I am extremely disappointed to say that I misread the RPO. I'm going to blame it on the blurry photo. However, I believe it is a dealership converted Ws6. The only reason I assume this, is the fact that the people I bought it from were not gearheads. They just liked their toys. Also, it does have the Ram Air lid, just like true Ws6's had when they rolled out of the factory. It also has the correct specific Hurst shifter, just like the ones that had it out of the factory (looks n all. It even has the Hurst badge on the side). So either someone did an AWESOME cloning job, orrrr the dealership converted it. (But how would I know?) I'm guessing the dealership because the last people who had it were not gearheads, and they have the original windshield decal from the dealership. But I have no idea. I could always ask the previous owners. Lol

The Hurst was an option on all LS1 F-bodies from 99-02. My '01 flat hood T/A has it.
The dealer may have put the hood/wheels on, but I doubt they did the suspension and exhaust.

Right. I was thinking this is probably what happened. But I just read that Pontiac made some 99 Formulas with just the Ram Air hood, lid, and the larger wheels without the Ws6 rpo during the 98 strike (same situation as the McNamro, but I'm not talking bout them btw). Which would make sense considering, as we all know, they build cars labeled a year ahead. Is this true? How would I know if my car is one of these? Sorry for long readings.

So you are now saying that the WS6 RPO is not present on the SPID sticker? Did you check the VIN on that sticker and make sure it's the same VIN as your car? Sometimes the wrong SPID gets applied to a car on the assembly line....I owned a car like that once, bought it brand new and the sticker had the wrong VIN and RPOs on it, so check the VIN.
Pontiac didn't make any of these LS1 WS6 cars in the first place, badge or not. These conversions were all outsourced to ASC (American Sunroof Company).
There were no versions made by GM or ASC that did not include the "WS6" RPO. There is no accounting for what individual dealers might have done on their lots, but I think it's more likely that some private owner in this car's past would have put all those parts on....assuming it's not an original WS6.

They match, sadly. Thank you all for all the help. really appreciate it. It sucks that I can't say it's one of twelve anymore, but at least I can say it's one of a kind (I guess?). Thanks everybody!
