Default First LS1 and first post inn a long time!!!

Just bought this 2000 Camaro Z-28 a couple of months ago. Car was sold to a dealer, and dealer had no idea what was in car. During my road test car turned 31,000 miles!! Long tube stainless headers, Borla with SLP Loud mouth kit with additional muffler( power-flo add on) something like that... Cam, FAST intake, throttle body, head work(241 casting), tranny work by RPM Transmission, 3,100 stall converter, I think 4.10 gear, did not count yet, but by RPM....I would say 4.10. Upgraded brake rotors and stainless steel braid brake lines...etc. Car is 99% perfect!!!! I put a good amount of TLC into this car and it pulled thru!!![IMG][/IMG]

removed SLP ram air kit that came with car and replaced with K&N. Existing had all leaves and debris stuck to condenser and radiator and only used small rectangle on air filter for SLP. I feel it flows more and feels a little better with new K&N....

I'm probably wrong here so just correct me, but isn't the K&N supposed to be used with a ram air hood? I know ram air funnels a little bit of the air from the scoop into the hood directly onto the k&n, but for the most part I thought they all get their cool air from the air dam underneath channeling air upwards into the lid(which is now blocked off from the base put on under the k&n.

I had one before on my SS, came with it, but it always bothered me a bit that it seems like it just blocked the better airflow route and used the less efficient/gimmicky ram air route.

Nice ride. Never really been a fan of those exhaust tips but for some reason they look pretty good with your color/wheel combo.

I agree with you. When I removed SLP kit there was piece of plastic that mounted to the condenser, that was cut for SLP, that I removed. Now, from the factory air dam underneath the air is directed right into full radiator and condenser. Also, dead heads into bottom of plate K&N provided. I cut a opening in plate (rectangle shape) to ram air right into filter. When hood closes, pouch on hood fills opening in front of latch and kinda made my own Ram-Air. Don't know if I should of redesigned K&N's unit, but it made more sense to me this way!
