This entire debate is mostly all a matter of perception and opinion. What is your definition of "a few notches"? If you want something that's significantly louder at idle and low RPM on your otherwise stock car, you might find Magnaflow disappointing - I know I did (many, many years ago that I tried this muffler). However, if you plan other modifications such as headers/ORY or beyond (such as cam, etc.) then Magnaflow might end up sounding just right to you.
For a stock car, this is a pretty mild exhaust. That's not necessarily a bad thing, it just depends on your preference.

Like I said in my original reply, the Magnaflow is probably best suited for the OP.

hey i think theres a website ls1 sounds. i vote for magnaflow if you want good sound reasonable noise. loudmouth is asking for cops to follow you plus wake up your neighbors everytime you drive down the street. SLP dual dual is almost stock quiet yet high performance. just my one cent cheers

I mentioned this earlier in the thread, but if you're willing to spend the money then Corsa might be the right option for your goals. Louder than Magnaflow, quieter than Loudmouth, and won't bee too loud/has limited drone on an otherwise stock car.

I'm inclined to say go with the SLP LM2, and if by chance it's a little to loud it's an easy swap to install a Magnaflow, Borla, or Dynomax 24248 round muffler in place of the SLP muffler. Furthermore, even if you swap mufflers your cost is still under $500.
Now if you want to try a Magnaflow in the stock location then get the #12267, and swap it in place of the factory muffler.

Can you put a chambered magnaflow in place of a lm2 bullet ? If so that might be a good alternative in case a lm2 is too loud, also don't round bullet mufflers naturally drone
