Why do people put Corvette coil covers on their F-body engines?

To cover the coils (and fuel rails, hence "FRC"), and improve the underhood appearance.

You don't get it? "Improve underhood appearance" means, It looks better! Since you can air brush them, get them custom made and all kinds of cool stuff it can add to a unique look for a car too!

Instead of looking at this **** (coils, brackets, wires, etc)

You open your hood and just see the intake manifold and nice covers.

Unless you assume people do this so they can say they have a corvette motor (like Mustang GT guys putting on Cobra badges). In that case, I would say most don't do it for that. That do it because they fit and look better. Plus, like already pointed out, they can be modified.

These are actually from a GTO

I get the coil covers but You might as well put GTO coil covers on a Camaro if you'd put Corvette covers on a Pontiac.

^^^^^Lol. I'm not a fan of covers myself. Look like cheap plastic bat wings, painted or not. As far as CORVETTE covers..... people have been slapping vette stuff on their cars forever.

I have a set of 'vette covers that I put on and didn't like..... they hang from a nail on the garage wall. So I guess its a matter of what ya like. I'm going to buy a set of polished aluminum valve covers instead.

Congratulations, you have an opinion. Don't like that mod? Don't do it to your car...simple. However, you asked why and I told you why.

So whats the point of making a thread other than to seem like you are trolling? If you don't like it move on to something else. You asked a question it was answered and pictures provided to show what people were talking about.

The LS1 was first designed and used in the Corvette in 1997, and thus gained recognition as a "Corvette motor". So technically, people who do this are somewhat justified.

I had them on my Pontiac at one time. It's a Chevy engine for crying out loud. I enjoyed aggravating the Corvette owners at car shows. Like you, they'd get mad at just the sight of them.

I asked the question because I thought that maybe someone had a good reason for this nonsense. But apparently there isn't one.

They have just as good a reason as painting wheels black. The purpose is people will modify their cars the way they like them. If you can't get over that, you're not gonna do so well here.
