Just purchased a used 2002 Camaro Convertible (V6/A4).

The driver side knee panel has a big chunk cut out below the steering wheel. Also most of the lower 'hush panel' is gone as well. I've ordered replacements, but I'm just curiuos? Anyone have any idea why someone would do this? I don't anything about the history of the car...

The bluetooth microphone I put there temporarily until I find a better place. That is NOT the reason it was cut....

Thoughts?

 

It looks like someone had hand controls installed (for people who cant use their legs to drive), and had to cut that piece out to fit them.

 

Thanks! That was my first thought too. There is also some more than normal wear on the rocker panel top edge... Right about where I'd imagine a crutch or cane on your left side would hit before getting up.

Wiring and everything looks OK at a glance, so I should be back to normal once I get my dash peices in. Just thought it was odd!

 

I have a remote control for the steering wheel to control the stereo located in that area. Just saying.

 

Maybe someone tried to steal it and they were trying to get to the ignition wires.
