Default Fuel pump getting weak?

Ive been a member here for at least 4 years and used to own a 98 Z28 that has recently been sold. I just picked up a 2002 Avalanche Z71. When I crank it after sitting for more than 20 minutes it doesnt want to start. Crank it again right away and she fires up and runs perfect. If I get out and get back in within 10 minutes it will start up first try. Not sure if the fuel pump is getting weak or if this is a different issue. Any advice would be welcome.

Probably not, sounds like the pump is loosing its prime. Either the fuel pressure regulator or the check valve on the pump.

Just replaced the fuel pressure regulator and the same problem still exists. Should I just replace the check valve or just do the whole fuel pump module while Im at it?

This was what I was told from Racetronix dealing with the same issue. I don't know if you can just change the check ball.

I had the same problem, plus my fuel sensor was giving me bad readings. I did not feel like fixing the individual problem with the pump, so I just replaced the whole assembly. Everything is working great again.
