Low Oil Pressure
Hi there,
I am wondering if anyone has any suggestions or recommendations for me.
I have a 2006 GMC Savana with a 6.0L Engine and I am getting a Low Oil Pressure signal on my Dashboard.
Replaced the Oil Pressure Sensor NO changes or improvement!
Did an Oil Pressure Test and it is the same as on the Dashboard!
I am being told that it is or may be the Oil Pump!
However, when I look this up and or check with Local Suppliers they advice me that this is not a very common Part being bought (Oil Pump) and that I should look else where! This Diagnose may not be the Problem! As they have no previous sales or request on such an Item!
Is anyone got any kind of recommendation or possible Fix for this Problem?
Thank you,

Is the engine still quiet or is it ticking / knocking? What is common (somewhat) was the o-ring on the oil pump would sometimes get cut during install from the factory and eventually cause oil pressure problems. There is even a TSB on it somewhere.
Keep in mind changing the oil pump is not the easiest task but it is your best shot right now.
Here is the TSB but doesn't address low oil pressure but it can:
File In Section: 06 - Engine/Propulsion System
Bulletin No.: 02-06-01-038
Date: December, 2002
TECHNICAL
Subject:
Engine Knock or Lifter Noise (Replace 0-Ring)
Models:
2001-2003 Chevrolet Corvette
Condition
Some customers may comment on an engine tick noise. The distinguishing characteristic of this condition is that it likely will have been present since new, and is typically noticed within the first 161-322 km (100-200 mi). The noise may often be diagnosed as a collapsed lifter. Additionally, the noise may be present at cold start and appear to diminish and then return as the engine warms to operating temperature. This noise is different from other noises that may begin to occur at 3219-4828 km (2000-3000 mi).
Cause
The 0-ring seal between the oil pump screen and the oil pump may be cut, causing aeration of the oil.

i had to put in a new o ring. my truck was knocking and rattling even when it did have correct oil pressure.
o ring fixed it all.
not saying thats your issue, but its quite a bit less work than pulling accessories and whatnot. not sure how easy the oil pan is to get off in a van, my 2wd truck only took me about an hour and a half.

Im sorry but that sig is funny as hell, he actually rides in a GM limo nick named the beast and ill spare the details but also Ford didn't take the bail outs like GM and Diamler/Chrysler. So that said not sure to laugh or question.
I just found it funny reading that and thought id share.

I have a 05 Savana with the 6.0. Started having low oil pressure. Dropped the pan and replaced the oil pickup tube o ring and problem solved. It.s a common problem in these engines. O ring flattens out over time and sucks air.
