Commuting MPG?
I have a basic bolt on LS1 (lid, 4.10s, full exhaust, dyno tyne) and I normally got 15 mpg in town to my old job, but my new job has more traffic and I got just under 13 mpg for the tank! It's pure city, but isn't god awful bumper to bumper traffic.
My tune is awesome, done by a reputable shop. Car runs well, cleaned out the throttle body awhile back, maintenance is up to date.
Is this normal? What do other DD ls1 cars get commuting?

I'm getting 18. 24 highway. Stock cubes. Mods in sig. I would think you'd be closer to mine. Still your original O2's?

Commuting MPG?
I get 21 on a 110 mile daily commute 75% highway with little traffic. Mods in sig. LT1 though.
How short it's your commute? That'll drop mpgs quick if it's real short and all city. I had a 2004 Saturn Ion years ago that only got me 16 mpgs when commute was only 6 miles in 45-65 mph zones with like 10 stop signs. It was because the commute was so short. And the stop and go at highway speeds doesn't help. But as soon as I went all highway it jumped to 42mpg.

Unfortunately, you can't draw any conclusions here. I've gone as low as 8 mpg in very urban city driving - in a Firebird that got 29 mpg on the highway. If you are doing more than 8 mpg, I'd say you are OK. Every city is different.
This situation is worse because the car is "tuned.". I suspect that tune isn't optimized for city commuting.

In town you should get between 16-20 mpg depending one driving style. On the open highway you should get between 22-30. 30mpg is possible if you have 2.73 gears with an auto or a 6 speed manual. Driving style is the biggest factor in mpg though. I seem to get the best mpg if i keep it under 2000 rpm, around 1800 seems to be the sweet spot for freeway cruising.

In town is usually stops signs or lights every 1/2 to one mile at speeds around 45mph. I have 2.73 gears with an auto and tend to drive like a grandma. When I last drove from Arizona to Minnesota and did my mileage i got between 24-30.5 mpg on the highway and averaged around 27ish overall at speeds around 70mph. My car is completely stock down to the paper air filter and has pretty low miles so most people out there with modified cars with deeper gears defiantly won't see this mileage mine is probably the "best" case scenario.
