After being down 8 months, first day driving it I got 2 thumbs up at stop lights, and 3 people ask me about it at a gas station (car is loud as hell).

I get a lot of little kids staring and pointing, kind of the way I use to when I was a kid.

As for the general public, most of them think it's newer than it actually is in my experience, they'll comment on how shiny it is, or how it looks like the bat mobile. Other than that I'll get a simple "nice car" most of the time. More than half the time people will call her a Camaro though...

^^^^ lack of nostalgia and the fact that they don't look old is why they don't garner a ton of attention on the street.

By the time my one year old daughter is 37 people will be drooling over my ride, which will be hers.

Well said.

DD mine (just passed 203K), I'm practically invisible until it snows. I get a ton of comments calling me crazy/stupid, etc otherwise no one pays attention to this thing.

I don't bother correcting people any more haha. I'm more surprised if anything if some one actually knows what a firebird or TA is.

Just not a color you see often, and they usually pull a premium price. I don't think many people even knew what the color was back in 01-02, I sure didn't. I wanted a red one and went to the dealer to buy it. SOM was sitting next to red along with 5 or 6 other colors. Drove the SOM home instead the next day. Black does look mean for sure, especially after a fresh detail. But they were the most common as well.

My '02 Camaro pretty much goes unnoticed on the road. At the dragstrip it's gets ignored until I get on it then it attracts a crowd!

I get a lot of thumbs up, comments and walk overs to tell me how much they like my car. I cannot tell you how many people I know who want to be the first approached if i ever sell it.

I get a good number of looks/comments on mine when I'm out in it. Like BrntWS6 above though, I have 19000 miles on mine and it doesn't come out much. I'm hoping for a few more looks at shows this year with the Fikse's that are sitting in my garage

My 99 Z28 gets compliments regularly and it's not even clean half the time. Its my daily driver with 199,000 miles on it, so I'm sure a good portion of the public likes them. Come to think of it, one guy told me he didn't like f bodies but there was something about mine that he just loved. There's nothing special about it, its bright red and black with the stock body kit and aftermarket wheels. It's been very reliable and I'll drive it til it's no more.

Honestly my third gen gets more stares. But I find people looking at my SS all the time. Most turn away like they weren't looking. car people give me the thumbs up, "nice car man"

This. I always appreciate clean and tastefully modded cars regardless of make, but these cars carry a bloated/plasticy 90's look. They don't have classic car lines, nor the sharp body lines of the new gen cars. Not to say there aren't some very nice looking examples here, though.

I definitely agree that 4th gens aren't as attractive as the classics, but I find them to have superior styling as compared to most of the latest model stuff. Modern cars have high belt lines, short side windows, often with wheels too big, and are sometimes too tall or too narrow looking. For example, I find 5th and 6th gen Camaro to be a step down from the 4th gen stylistically, yet I view 2nd gen (especially '70-'73) Camaro as being superior to 4th gen.
