Default LSX 454 rear cover leaking

The rear cover on my 454 has a thin o-ring that seals it to the block. I ordered a new o-ring from GM and plan on using "Right Stuff" RTV around the o-ring. Has anyone ever had issues with LSX blocks leaking from here? Is there a better way of doing this? The rear main seal was dry.

Hi,
did you ever fund the remedy?
I think my LSX block is leaking from the same area.
