Default Haters...

Hope this is the right forum for this. I will be swapping an LQ4 into my 69 Dart. Every time I make mention of this on a Slopar forum I frequent I get a butt load of hater comments. From folks who claim to be hot rodders. Did I miss something someplace? What is so difficult for folks to understand? I am disabled...which equals a fixed income. Our for the best "bang for the buck"...looking for a drive-able hot rod. Live close to 40 miles from any of the local car hang outs, so efficiency is a must for me. Just form that stand point alone it means EFI is a almost a must. Never mind the fact that I simply WANT EFI. Being on a fixed income this pretty much dictates using a factory set up. When I ask Slopar folks to tell me how to build a 450 or so horsepower EFI Slopar for the guesstimated $7500 or so that I am thinking an LS will cost me I get nothing in response. I am told that I what I will be doing is boring, to "easy"...Huh? What is so different about stroking a 360 and putting a carb on it? Darts came with LA motors..by the thousands. What is so different about opening the hood on a Dart with a 408 Slopar in it? The fact that this one has orange painted valve covers and the one next to it has chrome ones?
Apologies for the rant....just very frustrated by the haters....and I have not even started.....

Always going to be haters. I've a 2nd gen camaro and a lot of the guys I talk with on a different board are the same when someone mentions dropping in an LS engine. Old school SB and BB purists are always gonna balk. Just let it roll off your back.

Personally, I like the old tech/old engines in an old car - especially when it's just going to be a toy and not a daily driver. Just personal preference really, all part of the experience to me. But old SBC/BBC stuff is usually cheaper to build than old Mopar stuff, so I understand your desire for the relatively cheap LS power and efficiency. Sounds like the swap is just what you need to meet your goals.

Not all Mopar guys have all of their screws tightened.

Is there a modern Dodge drivetrain that can be swapped in to keep it all Mopar? Does anybody do this?

**** on 'em. It's your car, do what makes you happy! I hate ****** like that!
I own six different vehicles from 5 different manufacturers. I've built sports cars off and on since the late 80s and the LS platform is flat out the most reliable, most powerful, and cheapest one to work on that I've come across.
Purist are going to complain if you don't go back with a Mopar engine. Heck, you could go back Mopar, but with a different year motor, and I guarantee you SOMEONE will b*tch about it.
You're on a budget and want the most bang for your buck, that means going with an LS platform. Hey, if they want to pay for your motor to keep it Mopar, tell them to go ahead. If not, tell them to eat a bag of d*cks!

My Granddad told me "Driving a Dodge was like having a 2 inch pecker, it's all right around the house but not worth a **** out on the road"......

Remember, being a hater is career. The better they do their job, the happier you are doing you AND those who support you! Do you man and if people can't appreciate that, then tell 'em to kick rocks!

If you do your own labor, $7500 will get you a LOT more than 450 HP with an LS engine.
