Pull the 4.8 out, swap everything over to the 6.0, bolt back in, segment swap necessary tables in the tune or just plug in some numbers, and replace your 4l60e after the 6.0 eats it.

It's a crap shoot whether you need a 24x or 58x reluctor engine though. That'll denote your year range to look for. Stick your head under the truck and look at the crank sensor.

Grey= 58x
Blk= 24x

About as easy as it gets. I'm a huge opponent of mail order tunes, but if your'e just looking to correct for the 6.0 and not clean up PE and timing, I'm sure you could get by with it. Any local shop worth their salt can put a decent street/dyno tune on a bolt on 6.0 for you for a decent price.

I'm about to do the same swap. I got a guy with an '03 LQ4 for $750, 128K on it. My truck is an '07 Classic, so I should be good and well within the range? I just did kook's headers, catted y-pipe and a 3" corsa cat back along with a black bear tune. Love the sound but on this crew cab it is a slug. Only thing I worry about is the legality of putting an '03 motor in place of my '07 ('06?)? Hopefully it is a non-issue. I will likely start a build thread once it gets going. I was going to do a cam on the 4.8 in the spring, but for a few extra bucks I might as well shoot for the bigger mill, I got 1-7/8" primaries for this specific eventual purchase. Good luck to the OP!

That '03 ended up being an '01 and talking the guy it had red flags all over it...

I bought an '05 out of a Silverado 3500HD.

Next step is to get head work done or to not get head work done....
