First off, I'm a 'stock' guy so my opinion will be in the minority here.
The only reason for buying my '01 Trans Am was because I wanted a convertible F-body version when I moved to NC. I owned a '96 Formula hardtop bought right off the showroom floor in FL in July '96. I had that Formula right through 2004 and never had an issue with the LT1 in those 8+ years. While I certainly could feel the difference with the LS1 acceleration in the T/A I really would not have cared if the '01 still had an LT1. I still would have bought it. I just really enjoy these F-bodies, from handling and styling to the way I fit in the car. It's a perfect match. That common cold start 'ticking' that's been in my LS1 since day one off the dealership lot is not a pleasant sound to hear in comparison. It's just something that I got used to hearing. It's certainly OK or I would not have owned the car all these years. The LS1 has also been problem free for me and is a wonderful engine but when I start up my '96 C4 LT1 it sounds a whole lot nicer to me.

Best bang for the buck.
And I'm surprised they included the LS1 Firebird yet left off the LS1 Camaro as "chopped liver." The best bang for the buck among the LS1 cars is the plain Jane Z28. $$ Thousands less than a WS6 with essentially identical performance from the factory.

i decided that an ls swap would be more power stock than a 4.7 I-6 stroker fully decked out, plus theres room to go from there.
plus the low 1st in the 4l60e paired with 2.72 4low make for great crawling![Happy](https://ls1tech.com/forums/images/smilies/LS1Tech/gr_stretch.gif)
the swap vehicle is my 1996 jeep cherokee xj.
