Default LQ4 question

Alright from the research I have gathers. after 2000 the lq4 had aluminum heads on them, also a different length crank. If I am wanting to get a get 4 LQ4, what do I look for? Is there anything distinguishable to tell them apart? I am wanting the get 4 due to the upgraded rods on them. Most everywhere I look just says LQ4 but doesn't mention what year vehicle it came out of.

Try to find a 2005-2007(if it’s a “classic”) truck engine. It’ll be 24x and most likely have Gen 4 rods. I have an 07 from a Silverado classic in my 2000 Camaro. It’s got the gen4 rods/Pistons.

When looking for one though is there anything that set them apart from the newer models? Is there a way to tell if its a gen4 vs gen 3 without taking it apart?
