As far as tuning, I am confident in my tuner, Kenny Dangler, from Northern Performance in *******, MI. He is currently running a 181 mph quarter at 7.75 and just did a 205.99 mph half mile in his self tuned 2001 Turbo Camaro at Battle Creek Speedfest. Hats off to him for all of us way up here in Northern Michigan!

if u dont need a big cam then i wouldn't get a big cam. like many, my big cam has gotten semi annoying lately and wish i would have went a touch smaller.......id say a simple 228r will get it done.....or the 224.

My 99 TA M6 with heads and cam that was getting 27,5 mpg with 4.10's had a 224/224 .581/.581 lift cam XER cam. Even with just a good mail tune the car had near stock drive ability. It was excellent in heavy traffic and even good creeping in parking decks.

My 91 RS with a 383 LS1, 229/229 cam and 4.10's can get 24 mpg.

Both cars are six speeds but an automatic would probably react very similar.

With good tuning Cams in the 224/224 to 230/230 range should not be to horrible on mpg maybe cost 2-4 mpg depending on driving style and tune.

Would that size cam work well with stock torque converter, or would a high stall be a necessity?

I'd do a stall regardless, but that cam would still do well on the stock converter
