Numbers Matching 4th Gen?
Is there such a thing as a unique number matching engine to a specific car in the 4th Gen? Is there a unique number for each engine specific to the car?
In the future, would it even affect the value of these cars to have a numbers matching engine?

There's a partial vin buried somewhere on the back according to one reference I saw. I don't think you can see it unless the engine is out though so it's basically the same as not having one at all.

I don't believe it will,, unless its like a 0/uber low mile original car and even then its just a relative thing..
They haven't done real number matching since like the 70's,, now the term they look for is "original period correct engine"
At least at the concourse level..
Look at how much Cobra's are worth and I'd be surprised if many still have the original block in them,,,
back in the day it was too easy to just order one in at the ford dealer.
Matter of fact,, since the old cars were hand stamped,, guys would order a replacement block
peen the area, mill it again and re-stamp it with the matching number.
kinda like a sealed motor,, if you can't figure out how to remove and replace the seals.. you might not be a race mechanic.. Bwahahahah
