How America Has Kept the Muscle Car Spirit Alive

What is it about these monsters of the road that have kept them so well-liked even now, when the Prius and Volt are found in so many driveways?

There's nothing like a powerful, sexy machine! I almost think that modern Camaros have outgrown the muscle car category though.. These are basically proper sports cars now, not just straight line cars. That said? LONG LIVE MUSCLE CARS!

The muscle car spirit is alive, but muscle cars aren't. You need to have a performance engine from the full-size in an intermediate size chassis to be a true muscle car. The G8 and Charger are full-size and the Camaro/mustang/challenger are pony cars. The only recent cars that could be considered muscle cars would be the GTO and the ats-v, but the GTO is more of a pony car and the ats-v engine isn't the performance engine from the full-size cts-v. It is awesome to see all the great performance cars that are available over the past decade though.

Good point. That's the proper definition of a muscle car there.
