how can you tell if your car has a tune? long time Camaro/TA member here with a dumb question...
Just bought a 2002 Silverado 5.3 single cab, 2wd. Headers, intake, exhaust.
How can I tell if it has a tune or re-programmed?

If it doesn't have the factory emissions and there's no check engine light or codes for emissions then it was given at least a minor tune. Usually headers will trigger the codes for air or egr. You can trick the rear O2 code with simulators, but tricking the rest is harder than just tuning them out.

If you have a buddy with HP Tuners, or EFI Live, you can maybe talk them into looking at your tune. Anyone that's had a look at a bunch of tune files should be able to tell right away if it's stock or modified...

it did throw a p0300 code earlier, but it went out. (engine misfire code) -it also has new spark plugs as per the carfax at 24k miles.
I tried calling the previous owner, but to no avail.
