If you can swing the newer car go for it. If its anything like the Coyote's 10 speed its badass.

I voted 'newer' but I sure would not turn down an ultra low mileage 'older' example that is pristine. I just think newer is usually better as more kinks are worked out of the system as the model years pass by. Whatever you get, enjoy!!

A lot more difference between the two than just the transmission. In the past I've had a 2013 ZL1 (fifth gen) and a 2016 SS (sixth gen), and the newer SS was honestly on par with the previous generation's ZL1 so obviously the newer ZL1 is an entirely different animal.

There is a huge gap in performance/comfort/etc comparing the fifth gen ZL1 to the sixth gen, but also in price so you have to drive both and see if it is worth it to you. They are totally different cars and don't drive at all similar.

But if you're going auto I would vote 10 speed. I rented a 5.0 A10 and that thing shifted great no matter how I drove it. Wish I could rent a camaro ss....Budget Rental has 5.0s and Challenger 6.4s for like $70 a day/unlimited miles in my area.
