Default Best option for a LQ9

I might need to pick up a new engine for my 02 bird so I was thinking of bumping it up to an LQ9. What years are the best option?

Thanks guys!

The only differences through the (2002-2007) years is in 03+ they went to equal length head bolts on the LS platform blocks. I'd say any LQ9 you can get a good deal on that isn't super high mileage or sitting outside in the weather would be the choice... not the manufacture year(s). That said I payed $1,100 for my 120,000 mile 2005 LQ9 that was in a running driving Escalade... then for piece of mind went with new rings, bearings, gaskets, oil pump etc. Probably didn't need to but I wanted a fresh clean rebuild.
