Default Starters - whats the difference

Looking into getting a starter, mainly for mockup on the ls1/t56 build. I would prefer oem since its readily available.

One issue is I'm not sure if I'm going to rebuild my LS1 im using or go LS3. I need the shortest, and most compact starter (and a bit of luck for fitment). I noticed we have tons of options for factory starters, or at least different part numbers for almost every car.. I've found a little info but not a lot.

can somebody educate me on the topic?

OEM was clunky and doesn't work with a lot of aftermarket bellhousings. I run the Jegs 10043 mini starter, it spins up faster than OEM while being lighter, overall smaller and more powerful.

Whatever you get, one important thing. Make sure it is not Made in China. So many issues for many automotive parts, especially a short life.

Debatable, chinese turbos last longer than precision units.

Lots of people use 5.3 truck starters.
