Was the writing, Ram Air, that was on the hood of some ws6 cars, an option?

This was not an option, it was standard equipment on all 1998-2002 WS6 cars originally, however many have lost their 'ram air' decals over the years (due to washing, weathering, owner removal, or repainting of the hood).

Ok, thank you. I just bought a low mileage ws6 and it doesn't have the copy on the hood. I hadn't thought about it possibly washing off. Appreciate it.

The decals were just a vinyl type, not an actual emblem, so with enough contact cleaning (not just washing but also waxing, buffing especially) they can become damaged and come off. Also, some owners just choose to remove them - again, as a decal they are easily removed (unlike an emblem which uses much stronger emblem adhesive).

But they definitely all came with them, originally.
