I'm 20 years old (will be 21 in January) and am a resident of Glendale, AZ, and I've wanted to purchase an M6 Ram-Air T/A for the longest time now. Obviously, a loan from my credit union/bank would have to be done. Payment would be no problem, but the insurance would not be. I've only had one incident in my driving career, and it was in a privately owned parking lot (minimal damage and not reported obviously -- no ticket despite the fact that it wasn't my fault). No speeding tickets nor tickets wreckless driving have been issued to me either (knock on wood). I've been quoted for a minimum of $500 per month for full coverage + $500 deductible (required by the bank). That'd be on my own policy, as my father has told me time and time again that I must "show responsibility" by having my own policy due to the "radically dangerous nature" of the car. So, having him put me on his policy right now is completely out of the question even though I'm in my 2nd year of being a full-time college student plus full-time assistant manager at a local hardware store. I really hope that when I can get my career started at Palo Verde Nuclear Plant (intership program first, though) unless I can magically start paying for insurance by myself. For those who want to know, my zip code is 85306. You guys have it good for your insurance plans. Keep in mind, I already tried the "but the Camaro is different though" excuse-- didn't work. The quote was about $5 less per month. I've tried Progressive, Encompass, American Family, Farmers, Allstate, and Geico. It really is a shame.

I pay 800 for the full year with classic car insurance, but have to have my truck in my name also which is 1500 a year. both have $500 deductibles and I am 20 going to be 21 in january also. See if you can get any student discounts. Saved me a couple hundred a year, at least for my truck

You have it easy... I'm paying $2057/year CAD for my 98 z/28 M6 and $1757/year CAD for my 88 SC Auto.

That's $1740 US/year for the 98 and $1486/year US for the 88.

I'm 24, clean record and live in city. Hence, if you find yourself staring at $1K or less a year, take it and run.

Ok guys, If the insurance is right, my parents have agreed to let me sell my 98 accord and pick up an LS1. Only if the insurance is anywhere near what they are going to pay next year, full coverage on the Accord is going to be around 2700. I am 17 years old and have been driving for about 14 months with a clean record. Yea I know its irrelevant because Im young, but is there any chance I can get Full Coverage(they want it that way) for an SS Camaro( I saw the SS and its 7.5 K with 73K in miles, 6 speed everything is clean *drools*) for around 2700 a year for full coverage? Im going to have to be the primary driver and its going to be less than 5K in miles a year. Pretty much school and back and just going out w. friends etc...Am I dreaming hoping for rates like that ? About 230-250 a month w/ full coverage ? Im trying to sell my car for about 8.2K and with the difference maybe picking up a shitty older car to put me as the primary and have my mom as the primary on the Camaro...Stupid Insurance is holding back the purchase...The phone calls to insurance companies begin tommorow...

This is kinda funny, but when we were playing around with who in our family gets what as primary driver insurance, our 05 Accord would have cost more if I was primary driver. 2400+ vs my $2057 for the 98. Your full coverage on the SS should cost you more for a few reasons, its newer and its a sports car. The good news is, its not a car that is technically for your age group, but it is a sports car. So expect at least to pay $3000+ for an SS. SS and Z/28 are seen as the same car by my insurance so its not a big deal for me, maybe for you.

I've had a Camaro since I've had my license. Just got the 98 this year, had a 88 SC 305TBI/A4 before that. I'm 24 now, next feb, looking forward to the drop in insurance.

I'm 19, and insurance on my daily driver, an 89 mazda 929, is about 130 bucks a month, liability only. Insurance on the T/A right now is about 180 for full coverage, but that's only because it's listed under my mom's name. God knows how bad they'd rape me if it was in my name.

The SS I was looking at is actually a 98 also. The car is 7500, Im selling mine for 8500 and with that 1K difference I want to buy a "grocery getter " for maybe 500-700 and have myself as the Primary on that car and my mom on the SS for a weekend car only(less than 4500 miles and she has a clean record for over 25 years). Its going to be hard, but I HAVE to get it done lol

Driving school? Group insurance? Clean family member with you as secondary? Company insurance?

The driving school will net only a small decrease, while the other suggestions are your best bet.

24 year old male in SoCal

99 Z

Full coverage with Mendota insurance company

No accidents or tickets (bless my radar detector)

$102.35 a month

If I can keep my record clean for the next 8 months it will drop down to about $90 a month.
