I have both, the bike is fun, but I'm very hot and cold about the thing. Sometimes I love it, others I'm just riding it thinking "if someone rear ends me I'm toast" I honestly might sell it pretty soon.

I lived in Houston and just had a bike for 3 years. I even rode it in the snow once. Just get some raingear and ride carefully, and you will be fine. Then when you graduate, you can buy a cherry Firebird with lower miles. Plus, you should be able to park closer. Be sure and get an excellent lock for it, you know how those college kids are.
BTW, I have 3 bikes, the Formula, and a dd. So perhaps I have some prejudice.

honestly, being you live in fla, i'd say keep the TA. i have an older gsxr. and i loved it until i bought my Z. so it sits more than i ride. i'd say with the constant thunderstorms you'll get, keep the bird. think about it, if you get a newer bike, it's still gonna run you 5-6 grand. so that'll leave about 1000 or so for bills. sell your DD. maybe you can get a grand out of it and pay your bills. keep the ta.

Sell them both and spend you $ on chicks and beer (school). You have the rest of your life after school to get a nice car AND bike. No matter how much you scrimp and save now, you still be on the lower end of what you can afford, and you will miss out on a lot of fun trying to get your toys early.

Concentrate on your education and building a good life for youself and you will be able to buy and sell LS1 cars and bikes all day long.

keep the beater for rainy days and get the bike. Bikes are so awesome, and come on, it's Florida for god's sakes... who wants a roof over their head?

I miss my bike.

I didn't vote because there isn't a third option. Sell the car get out of debt, keep the daily driver not bike. To be honest if you are goign to get through school you will have things that will come up. Repairs to the DD, books, etc. The best thing you can do is get through college debt free. After you are done you won't believe how much freedom that will give you to choose a new car a bike or whatever. You also will be in a better possition to choose the job that you want not just the first one that comes along because I need to pay my loans back. Take it from me I'm still paying my student loans 10 years laters. I'm almost done but If I had to do it again I would borrow as little as possible or not at all. My .02

Yeah I'm with you. I bought the LS1 M6 Vert so I wouldn't crave a bike any more :-)

On the other hand, a bike holds it's value nicely.

Or do both.....J/K. I understand the $$ issue!

I'd get a ZX-6R before a GSX-R. I might be kind of biased though....

I didntp ay off any debt but on my own I have all of it almost paid off anyways. But the college thing will be another year. I would love to go through school without any loans and I am for now, but once I transfer to the private college ill be going to its 20k a semester . So ill be forced to do loans. BUt yea the Chevelle is as cool as the formula.

i put keep the trans am.. cuz i hate gsx-r's.. if you are gonna get a bike, do some research, and get either a cbr XXXXRR or a yzf rX. the gsx-r's are a lil faster, but handle like **** cuz they are top heavy.. the yzf's are cbr's also look A MILLION TIMES BETTER! at least.. thats my .02
