i'm still gonna argue that for the same money, take the extra 10hp and lose the 0.5" of ground clearance. it's worth it. as 300bhp/ton said
regardless of how i look, i'm still gonna suggest it.
since you want me to get on topic, consider this:
nearly every cam works well with LT's as their scavenging starts at a much lower rpm. with mids, you're gonna need a cam whose powerband peaks at high rpms since that's where mids are going to make power since they scavenge poorly down low. if you're totally set on mids and i can't change your mind, review dyno graphs of individual cams and find ones whose powerband is the strongest up top to support the scavenging that happens in a higher rpm with mids. if you get a cam that has a lower powerband, you're going to lose power with mids since they scavenge poorly down low compared to LT's.

after some review, this camshaft would likely work well with your setup:
it's the thunder racing 230/224 .575/.563 111 LSA. here's a dyno graph of the cam:
it's on a car with stock cylinder heads, longtube headers, a lid, an LS6 intake, ported throttle body, ASP Pulley, and a 12 bolt rear end w/ 4.30 gears and custom computer tuning.
the reason that cam would be a good choice, again, is it's a middleweight cam so it'll likely offer decent drivability and not be anything crazy, but its powerband is shifted into mid-high rpm's. that'll suite mids well since they will achieve scavenging later in the powerband at a high rpm.
but as always, LT's will do an even better job, so i still recommend

See, and both of those posts were great. If you make posts like that you should not have any problems with anybody on tech, and you might even make a couple friends.

Dont get your hopes up, you're not my type. You're bitchy sometimes, but you're still a guy, as far as I know.
Lets give the guy his thread back, if you wanna hit on me, start another thread, but the answer is still no.
And Choco, no means no.

I run midlengths with a 232/238 cam...mids are good for ground clearance but for optimal power go with the LT's. I like my mac mids but do not get their catted y-pipe, it flows like ****. Macs will usually give you a little more down low due to a bit more back-pressure but the LT's will shine up top with a large cam. Ground clearance is def a little better with the macs, but if your stock ride height or only slightly lowered you can run LT's, I just liked the idea of driving around like normal and not having to fear whacking the header collectors on steep driveways/speed bumps/manhole covers. A good cam to hit low 12's/high 11's would be maybe a TR 228 for low 12's and something slightly bigger, say a torquer V2 or V3/FM13/TSP 231/237, or if you want to go big cam, id suggest the MS3. All of the above cams will need a tune but if you have a good tuner even an MS3 can be streetable.

Also, if you already have the macs, dont go out and buy LT's. Use the money youd spend on LT's and put it towards a set of budget cylinder. Catted coated pacesetters and y-pipe are around $700, while the TSP PRC Heads are $899 and you will net much more power with the heads over the switch to LT's.

Not trying to rape the tread, but this may answer some questions about headers.... Its a really long thread, but worth the time to read. I think the part posted by jrp has some great info. It is about a 1/4 of the way down and titled:

go to the cylinder/valvetrain section. look at dyno graphs that have all their power high in the powerband. you want a cam that pushes up the powerband as HIGH as possible. for example, a cam with a powerband between 2000 rpms - 6800 rpms will be MUCH better than a cam with a powerband from 1500 rpms - 6200 rpms. you need to rev high to make use of mid length headers, unlike longtubes. if you absolutely have to get mids, get that powerband pushed up high.
