I love trans ams, but I don't really like one more than the other. While some hate the catfish front of the Camaro, I hate the pop up headlights of the Trans Am. Either way, as long as it has the performance, then it's an awesome car.

YES I know this thread is ultra old, and your grandma considers it her elder, etc. but this has been on my mind, and I just randomly found this thread while searching for something. So don't call me a silly newb... I used the search!
Here's my ranking for exterior/interior, maximum score of 100, 50 for exterior and 50 for interior. Subjective to F-bodies of course (no use comparing the SS's interior to a Bentley's).
1. LS1 SS - 90. ext: 48/50. int: 42/50.
2. LS1 Firehawk - 87. ext: 43/50. int: 44/50.
2. LS1 Z28 - 87. ext: 45/50. int: 42/50.
4. LS1 Trans-Am/WS6 - 85. ext: 41/50. int: 44/50.
4. LS1 Formula - 85. ext: 41/25. int: 44/50.
6. LT1 SS - 80. ext: 44/50. int: 36/50.
7. LT1 Z28 - 79. ext: 43/50. int: 36/50.
I haven't seen the interior of an LT1 Trans-Am yet but the exterior gets a 37/50 and a 34/50 for the WS6. No offense to LT1 Firebird owners, looks are subjective but to me the front end of those cars literally looks like a bird's beak and the tail lights remind me of plaid shirts. Matches the name, I guess. The LT1 WS6 hood looks very out of place. While I was looking, I considered LS1 and LT1 Camaros and LS1 Firebirds, but I NEVER thought twice about the LT1 Firebird.
LT1 Z28s have those ugly salad shooter wheels, but it has very clean lines... the LT1 Z28 hood is nicer than the LT1 SS hood, IMO. An SS hood on an LT1 looks awkward to me, yet not on the LS1. In the end I don't regret my decision at all though, I love the lines of LS1 Camaros... subtle hood creases, hungry-looking front end, I like the way Firebirds look... really pissed off. Can't stand the spoilers though, plus Camaros have the nicest asses. I like how the LT1 Camaro's interior is angled towards the driver, but it has one of the ugliest steering wheels ever and the other things like vents/gauge cluster look kinda oldschool.
My ideal F-Body is an Arctic White LS1 SS T-top with the black b/c-pillar, M6.... does that even exist? If I did go with a Firebird though, it would be a Firehawk with a Formula front bumper. I don't like how Firebirds never have an all-black looking top, the a-pillar on 4th gen F-bodies is black and it doesn't flow well. The seats on a Firebird are nice, but look weird with the ribs.
The only thing I regret is not getting an SS. I didn't find any white stickshift SS's while I was looking, not to mention they would probably be pricey as hell.

Ever since i fell in love with F-bodies, i dreamt of owning a Trans Am, but now that i have my 02 Z...........i really wouldn't trade it for ANY other car right now. Camaro for me, at least at this point in my life. The car really grows on you.

I used to be a Trans Am owner. But my tastes have changed since then, I now prefer the Camaro in every way. Firebirds are still awesome cars, IMO, but the Camaro just suits me better and pleases me more cosmetically.

The whole "stuck headlight" issue turned me off to the Trans Am, my father always cursed his when they got stuck. He had 2 of them. The Camaro loses marks for me for its seats. Why the hell GM didn't bother to give us the little amenities, I can't figure out.
On the camaro, the bubble headlights grew on me too, it just looks cleaner in general. Like it was meant to go fast. Sleek looking. The Trans Am just has that mean aggressive look to it like I'm forcing my way fast through brute strength. I'd take a formula look without the pop up headlights with the Trans Am seats as my choice of F-body if I could. That's pretty much saying I'd want a vette at that point.

I did. My Dream was a White or Black WS6. When I bought my car I had actually went to the dealership to look at a pewter trans-am that after seeing online I was ready to buy. However I got to the dealership, and it was sold. I got to watch the new owner peel out of the parkinglot in it. I was all bummed out leaving and when I was pulling out I noticed this NBM Z28 sitting in the corner spot, so I stopped and checked out it, salesman came out and talked it over with me and made me a deal I couldnt really refuse. I love my car to death, and I think now I would take it over a T/A.

I like them both
For a while I did not like the LT1 firebirds much or the newer LS1 camaros, the catfish look just bugged me. But it was funny because my first camaro was the newer camaro It has grown on me though. Still am not much of a fan of the LT1 firebirds, the LS1 looks better IMO.

I love my bird. I like the way it looks much more compared to a camro. But them LS1 SS's do look extremly badass.
Also i saw it on here somewhere " A Camaro looks like it can kick your ***, a Trans Am looks like it's coming over to do it"

I had two z28's one was black and the other was NBM the seats in both sucked. Both also came with 2.73 gear The only thing I didnt like was the hood made the car look too plain. The SS, WS6 and firehawk all look sick! I currently own a 02 NBM Trans AM and I love everything about it including the factory 3.23gears But my main interest of all the cars Ive own is the motor baby!
