Poll: Which Auto Store

ever since the chick at autozone told me the chromemoly edlebrock pushrods i bought would fit my car b/c the computer showed it on teh Z28 and Corvette, but not the Trans Am, told me they must have been different engines. She obviously knew what she was talking about because her dad had/has an L88 corvette.
Im sticking with Advanced for now i know a couple people at a couple different stores so it is easy for me to deal with people. ntm i know a couple of the new guys at the autozone now and i deff dont think they know wtf is up!!

damn, all these stores an nobody said Arnold Motor Supply? maybe thats just a midwest thing, they've been pretty helpful an i know the guys that work there. I remember one time going into O'Riely's thinking they had a basic knowledge of engines an asked for an Oil Filter to a LS1, the guy looked at me an asked if that was a Lexus or something?

i disagreed with a older guy at advance about spark plugs once, just to sum it up he claimed ngk was **** in v8's, he would only run them in imports, and that i should stick with ac delco gapped at .40 becuase anything else would mess my engine up. he even was like, i'll sell you these crap ngk's but dont bring them back in here in a month and try to swap them for ac delco's. i replied, thanks but ill take my chances....

I usually go with napa or advanced bit I had a recent problem with napa selling me some u-joints that were discontinued and replaced by joints made by Precision. When I found out about the superceded parts they would not exchange them because I had taken them out of the box and misplaced the boxes. BTW, 98hardtopz, do you also run piston return springs and a crankshaft rotational dampener? They made a big dfference on my motor.

advanced. staff is pretty knowledgable and friendly. oreilly's is the worst around here. their staff at the two stores closest to me don't know ****. my sister went up there to get a battery and even though the sign says they install batteries they told her she would have to install it and gave her a box of tools and told her to have at it, so i had to drive up there and put it in. so like i said they don't know ****.

If I need a part the same day I will call Advance to see if they have it. Depending on the part, typically they dont have it but will get it next morning which is great. So then I will go to the NAPA store which happens to be located in the front of their big distribution center for the midwest here in Columbus. They ALWAYS have the parts.
Advance has better customer service than NAPA or AZ from my experience. But as someone mentioned above I always research the part number I am looking for and who the manufacturer is then walk in and TELL them this is what I need. If they seem to have decent car sense I will sometimes let them talk about the other parts available.

I have shopped them all but prefer AZ, mainly because I have done business at the same AZ for 10 years and if I call a day before the manager makes sure
there are 6 GC 0W-30 and a Mobile 1 filter waiting for me. I guess it is that "going the extra mile" thing
