Go read about the camaro "5th generation Pony car" (implying that ALL CAMARO'S BEFORE IT were ALSO Pony Cars)

So get over it, you dont have a Long wheel base, you dont have a big block, and there are several other things that you are missing IIRC to be a muscle car. This is the ricest thing ever

If you want to use wiki as a source why not look at the definition of muscle car there as well. click Look towards the bottom I can see the camaro listed as a muscle car.

I consider 289 mustang a pony car and the 427 mustang a muscle car. I think pony cars should be light and nimble.

The true def. of a sports caar is a small, lightweight, fast(used loosely) 2 seat convertible.

I guess it is a matter of opinion then, but I will never view a camaro or a TA as a muscle car when it has a engine in the 3XX ci range. A 455, okay, I can see that, but a 346//350...I dont think so. But yeah, I see your point. I think thats stupid though, crappy Wikipedia

Muscle. The original musle cars were nothing more than your standard 4-5 seater vehicles with a large engine as an option.

Granted the F-bodies are not designed to haul people.

The muscle car is not concerned with comfort, weight, or luxury options.
They are concerned with cost, power, performance, and the $/performance ratio yeilded.
A Corvette is a sports car. A Camaro/Firebird is a muscle car.

Negative, since GTO came out first we followed it being a muscle car including Mustangs. Believe me, I talk to hot rodders everyday that "knows their ****".

...and I will NEVER view a 4th gen V8 Camaro/Firebird as a "pony" car when it came with the one of the largest production V8s offered in any passenger car from '93-'02.

There is a difference between modern muscle and original muscle. 4th gens are modern Muscle cars. A 346-350ci V8 was/is considered a BIG V8 during the 4th gen era.

And once again, F-bodies are NOT small cars. The 1st gen F-bodies were small compared to midsized cars of the day, HOWEVER, in today's terms a 4th Camaro is as big as any other midsized car.

Example:

My '96 Bonneville, which is considered a FULL SIZED sedan, is 201" long. My '98 Camaro is 193" long. That is a difference of 8" from a full-sized (not even mid-sized) car to a Camaro of the same era. Now, compare a '67 Camaro to a '67 Bonneville and you'll see a much bigger size gap. Point being, 4th gens are mid-sized cars, thus putting them further into the "modern muscle" catigory.

The first and second gens were muscle cars, the third and fourth fall in the sports car class...IMO.

..... u act like you have won some kind of arguemant. i would call this thread more or less a dicussion of opinion, not a search to the all mighty question "whats is an f-body". so dont feel too proud of yourself. btw, i consider them muscle cars.

Its pure semantics.

To many members of this board, a "muscle car" is cool, bad-***, and manly. A "sports car" is for effeminate Europeans with twead jackets and driving gloves. Sooo, ...its important to them to identify an F-body as a muscle car. I personally don't care. Muscle car/sports car, if its fast and looks good, I'm in.

To me, F-bodies are sort of a compromise between sports and muscle cars. That's the appeal. I've owned four F-bodies. A fast car that feels like pig in the corners is not for me, but I do like the ballsy, workman-like attitude of a muscle car. As far as I'm concerned, that's what the F-body is all about. It's a little of both.

Yeah but I don't think it matters. The poll speaks for itself, and so far his opinion is in the minority......
