Default Insurance Question

I got into a little accident on Saturday night, the side of my car is not looking to bad, there was some paint from the other car along my passenger side, but most of it buffed out. There is still a little damage to the clearcoat but we will see what I can do. The rear quarter panel also has a nice dent in it. The other car on the other had has a nicely dented front bumper. I know the person that owns the other car, so I am not sure what I am going to do about it. This would be my first insurance claim so I am just wondering how much my insurance would go up. I can probably get a new paint job out of the deal and a new rear quarter panel, and not have to pay for a new bumper on the other car but idk is it worth it in the long run with my insurance.

just think about it, paying to fix your car with your own money is a one time payment. insurance will make u pay more for a looooong time. how much would u have to spend if not getting a claim through insurance?

Well I would be paying for a new front bumper for a newer Grand Prix. Then I would need to get it painted. There are also a few cracks in the passenger side door on my car along with a nice dent right in front of my rear tire on the quarter panel. So it all depends on what I decide on fixing. I have to at least get a new painted front bumper for the Grand Prix since it is the other vehicle.

I wouldn't turn it in. Find a bumper off a wrecked grand prix there are hundreds of thousands of those cars out there. You could probably have the dent pulled out. It's most likely not worth it to turn it in to insurance if its minor.

Well I guess in this case I am fucked. No the damage is not bad, but she keeps insisting that she is going to use my insurance to pay for her damage, so now, since I need to turn her damage in is it going to matter for a claim if mine gets fixed this way too.

Honestly man, unless you have the cash, I'd bite it with the insurance. I recently got in a wreck with mine. Its in the shop as I type, $2600 worth on mine, $1020 on his, I'm replacing the front bumper on a Explorer, along with my fender, entire headlight assembly, new apron, repairing my hood, repainting hood, fenders, bumper and blending the doors, not fun.
