Frankly, the " . " means nothing.
WS6 is the same type of thing as Z28, they are both RPO codes that represent an option package.
WS.6 would be like saying Z.28; the " . " would mean nothing.

GM uses codes for various options, and packages.
decades ago, specific options became popular must haves.. and the RPO code became a marketing tool.
this is why there are so many three letter acronyms in the GM world.
Z28 and WS6 were option packages.
LS1, LT1, L98, LT5, ect... they're all engine option codes..
ect.. its just when the public latches onto them, that they become useful marketing tools, and GM just ran with it..

WS6 = Whoops a Stock 6.
It was originally thought up by the consumer when the ricers though that V6s were big. Then GM created the WS6 to combat the smaller V6s. That was when the first V8 was created, in 1997. It is scientific fact.

Not all WS.6's have the " . " in the badging do they? Seems like i've seen WS6 and WS.6, or am i just pulling this out of my ***? ( no smart *** comments on that please

WS6 was handling package offered on Trans Am's and Formula's back in the 70's. It had different (wider) wheels, and suspension parts (springs, anti-roll bars). It became popular so in time GM just famred it off as a seperate sub model of the same range of cars instead of an option code.
