Yes, Patman has forgotten more than any of us will ever know on this topic, hopefully he'll chime in and sum it up for us. He's gained a lot of his knowledge over on www.bobistheoilguy.com If you have about a year to waste reading all the threads over there, it is a useful and informative site. Just BEWARE that MOST of the members over there are EXTREMELY anti-domestic/GM, and NEVER hesitate to rip/BASH/destroy and HATE ON them, every and any chance they get (even when it has NOTHING to do with the given topic at hand, they'll bring it in, and the mods will do nothing about it!!!). So if you are defensive about your car/choices, and do not like being told what a P.O.S. it is, DO NOT go over there!!!!

"boutique" oils is if your motor is getting EXCESSIVE amounts of oil past the rings and/or the valve seals. This will eventually kill your cats (NOT the meow kind ), IF you still have them. The Amsoil meets the reduced zinc SM ratings, so this is NOT a potential problem for it (even with excessive consumption), as compared to the others mentioned.

get off shitty M1 30 weight. unless you switch to a totally different oil or step up to a 40 weight, you'll still keep burning half a quart every other month/every 1,000 miles.

i'd stay away from redline because it's not starburst approved. i've heard redline has good detergents, but i've also heard of problems resulting from running redline oils. if it works for you, that's great, but personally i'd never touch the stuff.
What's starburst approved?

I am running M1 0w-40 and I love it. How thin it is cold doesnt matter except on start up and warm up. It performs like a 0 weight on startup which is good because that is when the msot damage can occur and you want the best lubrication.......then when you egt going it is 40 weight.
