Converting Z28 to SS
Before you start laughing, I am rather new to the LS-X scene, but since the General is the only one smart enough to offer pushrods and performance these day's, well you have to open up your horizon's.
With that said, would it be easier to convert a Z28 to a SS or just search for an SS?
Are there any link's to the rear spoiler and hood that really set the SS apart from the Z28?
Thanks for the replies and sorry for the newbie question.

Use search. The Z28 and SS are about 95% the exact same. The biggest differences are in a power steering cooler, hood, and spoiler. If you are interested in modifying your car you will get bigger and better gains from using aftermarket parts rather than OEM SS parts.

You can get the rear spoilers & hoods on ebay or on here. SS's are readily available for sale. Check out your local forum and you can probably find one or someone who knows where there is one for sale.

Thanks guy's I tried the search function but it didn't have anything on conversions, and since it was a general question, I placed it here.
Thanks for the replies.

Just make sure you don't cheapy out on the hood, or it'll do all sorts of flexing on the freeway. As for the wing, I personally recommend Spoilerdepot.com, excellent fit and great prices too. I found them through a search of this site a while back.

You can pick up both the spolier and hood on Ebay then have them painted to match. The SS and Z28 are basically the same car, think of the SS as an appearance package only. I plan on doing the conversion as well.

Just get an aftermarket hood and call it a day. SS's & WS6's are not exactly rare so what's one more clone
Formulas, Firehawks and Anniversary editions are the only somewhat rare F-bodies. Everything else is a dime a dozen so don't worry about the guys that say "It's not a real SS" or "It's not a real WS6". It is a real F-body and it is yours to make it look how you like. But I do agree not to badge a clone. Leave the Z28 badge or just take it off and have nothing there. You'll still have a sweet looking ride but will take a lot less crap.
Good luck.

lets point to 02NHRAtransAm's sig where it clearly states he owns a "69 El Camino SS Clone", no rainbow flag next to that ****, lets hear the excuses...
and the crap he is referring to is the crap you'll get on this board if your damn door sticker doesnt say WU8/WS6...

that is the same point i raised on another thread when a guy wanted opinions on his LT1 Z28-LS1 SS clone car!! I said their are plenty of old camaros and muscle cars in general that are badged as clones, and while i wouldnt do it personally, if its ur car and ur the one making those payments, ****, do what ever the hell u want to it!!
