Default losing my Z28 advice?

here goes ill leave the non-important blah blah out just the basics but a month a ago i saw a nice 98 Z28 other than miles (155K) the car was in near showroom cond with full maintence records i was looking for a f-body for close to 6 months and the price was great ($5800)so i bought it, i have a sporty driving record at age 23 and was shoping rates ever seince i started looking for cars and was getting prices of between 200-250mth for full covrage on 94-96 cars i got a qoute for 268mth from my ins company for the 98, the day i ended up buying the car. so after i bought it i went down to there office and paid them 200 to cover costs for the next month or so .well the ins comp. never got my change from address i sent in in august and i never got the paper work saying i was being canceled because i was misqouted so now im looking at over 400 a month to insure the car and i have spent the last 3 days shoping rates again and there all in the 360+ area point being i wouldnt have bought the car knowing i couldnt afford the insurance so i have somewhat concided and have decieded to sell the
car now like some of you might know having one of these cars and then having to get rid of it for less than upgrading is tough to deal with any ideas on how to cope i will buy another one as soon as my driving record scars heal
a little and hit age 25 most companys told me my rates would be around 150-175 if the tickets come off . i was thinking go buy a LQ9 shortblock some piston here rod there and have a nice birthday present for my new new f-body when i hit 25?

i'm 25, my Z06 is $108 a month through state farm. Dont buy an F-body, buy a Y-body when you turn 25, prices on them will be LOW.

I love being on my parents policy. my insurance for my Camaro being 18 is only 114/mo. full coverage. what i would do if i were you, is sell it. chances are with 155k on it somthing is about to give up and at that age its probably expensive. i bought my 98 with 45k miles on it for $9000.00. when you turn 25 buy you a nice 01-02 F-body with low mileage and go that route. you wont be dissapointed.

It's funny, but vette's are actually cheaper to insure than f-bodies. :Jest:

Insurance is all about where you live, your age and your driving record. if you live in a major city, are under 25, single and have a few tickets you are FUC*ED, plain and simple. I am 39, married in the suburbs and I pay about 80 bucks a month for full coverage on my 02z. I pay only 2000 a year and I have 3 cars two of them brand new with full 100/300k coverage.

When I was 16 and lived in Philly I paid 3000 per year for basic 5/50k coverage with a few too many tickets (2 licenses suspensions for points actually) and that was 3000 1983 dollars for bare minimum coverage.

There are bean counters who do nothing but sit in a room and red line maps (even though they say this is illegal) and then apply rates based on number of accidents per age group in those areas and so you could be a model driver but if you live in a red lined area, are under 25 and have any points you are a MUCH higher risk to the insurance companies. the numbers are the numbers they don't lie. You are much more likely to have an accident if you ae under 25, live in a congested area and have points/accidents already. Sucks but that is the way it is.

Mike is right. I live 45 minutes outside of Philly (with little to no traffic) and because of that, my insurance rates of crazy. I pay $300/month for my 99 Z. I was paying $140/month for my '92 Z34 and it went down to $90/month when I moved to Allentown for school. It all depends on where you live.

I insured the car in my fathers name till I was 25 and it stayed actually went down to $100 for my multicar discount and renters insurance. State Farm would do yo right if your record is okay.

i am pretty sure that vettes are less because they tend to be owned by older people who tend to be more responsible... which equals a lower accident percentage.. my mom works at an insurence company, and she told me.. so i am guessing it is true.

I'm 23 and had a lapse in my insurance because Geico never notified me that I owed them money for my policy. So they cancelled it. I was looking at $183/mo from online quotes. I went to a Progressive Drive agent locally and he set me up with full coverage $100k/300k on comp/uninsured motorist and $10k injury with $250 deductables. This was better coverage by far then I would have gotten from anyone else and I paid $125 a month. I have no tickets on my record and no accidents and I drive an 06 GTO.

Try an independant agent, maybe you'll get lucky.

They also factor insurance rates by how many files are claimed per car, and how many cars are totalled. Obviously there are more F-bodies in wrecks than vettes, which contributes to the rates.

Im 20 and practically live in Indianapolis and I only pay $166/mo for full coverage. Ive been fortunate with the tickets but I doubt everyone who is under 25 in a major city and it surrounding areas are going to get raped. My buddy just picked up his 2nd WS.6, an 00', and hes in the same range as I am with full coverage as well. And neither of us are married either. Maybe we are just lucky
