Default Basic Tune or Dyno Tune, that is the question.

I'm going the be having my car tuned in the spring. Can't decied whether to do just a basic tune or a Dyno Tune.

My car is going to have SLP Lid, Ported TB, LS6 Intake, Pacesetter LT's, 3400 Stall W/ lockup, 3.73 gear (changing from 2.73)

Is it worth it to Dyno tune??
What kind of gains basic/dyno

at the shop i was gonna have the tune done at, they do what is called a "basic tune" set's new shift points, adjust's A/F and removes some trouble codes and some other things as well.. Obviously a dyno tune is a little more thorough and costs more.

-Rear O2 sensor codes deleted (for cat-delete cars)

-Desired idle speed (for "lopey" cams)

Dyno Tune. No doubt about it for me. Some guys will say you dont need a dyno to tune the car...

I saw 18 HP and 27 ft/lbs of torque from my dyno tune. Mods in sig.

I would definately go with a dyno tune since you have LT headers. A lot of people run lean after a LT header install which will rob some HP. If you get the dyno tune they will adjust the A/F and probably gain you anywhere from an extra 10-25 rwhp depending on how far off it is.

I gained 29 rwhp but I was an extreme case. New Era Performance told me that my car was running so lean that the motor was at serious risk had I kept driving it like that

not lean, rich, the leaner you go, the more power you'll make till you hit knock or melt a piston.

Some go rich and some go lean. Mine was lean. Ask Mike @ New Era. It was so lean I was losing alot of HP. 29 rwhp to be exact.

Buy a full tuning suite (EFI Live, HP Tuners) with a wideband and tune it yourself.
