I have the near same sound comming from my car and some local people have said the cat(s) are bad. But my performance has noy suffered. I ran a 13.0@106 Sunday

I found some low milage cats from a SS local for $40 ill do that since its noy under waranty

I doubt its your cats man, stupid as this sounds they tightened my 02 sensors and it all but went away.
