I paid 21500 for mine. their sticker was 23990. A SOM 02 M6 with 25000 miles, 345hp opt. from slp. Also had SLP SFC's and STB added. That was about a year ago. They got me but im happy... 
People are paying for them. It sucks but you gotta pay to get what you want.

well I guess the price isn't outrageous now that I looked up it's retail value...retail value on it is a little over $19,000....and then I put in my car as exactly the same miles, condition, options etc...the same car just 3 years older had a value of like $13,000 
man a few years just kills the vaule of these cars.
