shes gone!
Well, yestereday i was driving home on I64 westbound, and it was pouring buckets. i wasent hauling *** or anything like that, i was driving undre the speed limit along with everybody else and i was n the far left lane with a suburban to my left, when out of no-where i did a complete 180 and smashed into the center barriers and spun around and hit the front of my car. no-body else was hurt and i was completely fine(physicaly). So they towed my **** and the cop was a nice guy but he gave me R/D, failure to maintain control of vehcle ! So today the chevy dealership is gonna have it towed to them from the tow-truck place and estimate the damage and give me a call. I hope they dont total it out!! mechanicaly the car seems sound, just a whole hell of alot of body damage!

i think cops may be obligated to issue certain types of tickets pending on the cirumstances.. for instance - if the damage is >$1,000, maybe a R/D ticket is mandatory. i believe in VA, if you're pulled over for 80mph+, its supposed to be an automatic R/D, even if the speed limit is 65mph (R/D speed is 20mph+ over the limit). the cop can, however, show up in court and vouch for u though, which culd help u out.
that sucks so much dude - had a beautiful conv. at least we got lasting memories of washing/waxing her up tho... its a true blessing, however, to know that u, nor anyone else, were harmed during the incident. obviously something a bit more than luck at play here...

Cops are obligated to write certain citations when it pertains to vehicle accidents.
If the car spun and you crashed it, you did exactly what he charged you with, failed to control the vehicle.
The reason however, could be mechanical, but that doesn't get figured out right there on the spot.
Glad to hear you are ok

Police obligations are greatly misunderstood by the public.
It sounds like you got Illinois' version of Failure to Reduce Speed to Avoid a Collision. If so, I'd take it on the chin. Not worth your time fighting. It's like $75 total to also get it put on court supervsion (and thus keep off driving record). But, in Illinois, Reckless Driving is about the number one worst ticket you can get, right up there with a second DUI. If so, tell your states attorney the story and if he buys it, it's all good. Might plea down to VA's version of Too Fast for Conditions.

Note that I am not defending your ticket in any way, just noting that your defense is worthless.

tell the court that thats what RWD does in wet conditions. at a higher speed when a tire blows out on the freeway, its hard to control it. so are they gonna give you a ticket for having your tire blow out? or in your case wet condition and whatever the hell happened.
thats the thing too. you get a R/D ticket for an accident that you couldnt prevent, yet burning out/donuts where you CAN control the car you get an *** chewing. and its less dangerous.
id be ***** out fighting that ****. just because the characteristics of my car makes me do a 180 doesnt mean i didnt try to control it, or it happened too fast for my reaction.
