Default visual difference??

I found a guy here in town that says he has what he "thinks" are three 6.0 motors. Once again, "thinks" they are. He's had them for a couple of years and said they came out of trucks...blah,blah but can't confirm the size for me(and he's offering a decent price for everything he has) Is there a way on the outside of the motors to tell whether it's a 4.8,5.3, or a 6.0? I know for sure they're not LS1/6 motors because he DID know they were iron bottom motors vs. aluminum. Thanks for any help, Bill

Best way to tell would be by the casting numbers... Get the casting numbers of all blocks and check them out at

I think you meant LS2. The LS4 is a 5.3.

the iron LS 6.0 motors are LQ4 and LQ9. I knew that already and I have a 5.3 combo(still for sale) I was just asking a simple question is there an easy way to determine whether it's an iron 4.8, 5.3 or 6.0 without tearing it down and measuring parts etc. I saw a stamping on the back of one 6.0 crank that actually said "6.0" on it but if the flywheel/flexplate is still on it you'd never see it. The guy here in town is pretty sure he has a 6.0 but before I buy it I'd like to make sure exactly what it is. Thanks anyway. I'll try to find some casting numbers for the block I guess!!!
