Default Importing Vehicles to US

How would someone get a vehicle into the US? I am looking at a Holden vehicle from Australia.

Way too expensive, and not worth the hassle, tried it with a Jaguar and by the time you changed/replaced/added everything the US government requires it was cheaper to buy a new one
Unless you have Bill Gates money and enjoy dealing with red tape, forget it

I'm guessing it would cost about 10k US to get a car here with US specs and documention. Would that sound about right?
