Have to share my sad story with people that’ll grieve with me
This is a long story, but I hear talking through things helps the grieving process.
In 2000 I purchased my dream car, A ’99 TA with an M6, T-tops, Traction Control, the works! Only thing I would have changed was to make it a WS6. Up to last year I pampered that car. Washed it religiously, waxed it every month. Had dreams of how much fun I’ll have some day with my son when we take it to car shows in 50+ years. I would put more energy into that car then just about anything, I absolutely LOVED that car!
Around July of 05 I lost my job and unfortunately I had to make the ‘right’ decision to get rid of it rather then loose all my savings. So we traded my wife’s car and my TA in for… a minivan . Heart was broken but I could hang my hat on the fact that my son and wife would be riding in a very safe vehicle and we would not go bankrupt since I was out of work trading two car payments for one.
I have a nice new job now and decided to look around. Wife is not all on board with spending another 15k or so on a car we don’t ‘need’. This story is getting rather long so I’ll cut it short (hey, I warned you in the beginning). A co-worker mentioned a friend of his was looking to get rid of a ’91 Z28 and only wanted $1k. So I pulled a carfax on it and signed up for the ‘pull as many reports as you want for 30 days’. For poops and giggles I pulled the VIN on my ’99 TA and this is what I found. We traded it in on July 7th ’05 the car only had 37,000 pampered miles on it. In the car fax report on August 8th 2005, one month later with 1500 more miles a SALVAGE TITLE was issued! Someone totaled my baby!!! All that work I put into it! And I mean I was **** about it! Used Mobil1, used there insanely expensive filter, deliberately did not drive it to keep the miles off, stored it in the winter and did all the prep and had a nice expensive car cover over it. That car was set to be my son’s son’s and still look like new. And one month later its in a junk yeard! WOW, did not know a car could break you heart that bad!!!!!!!!

That's a pretty sad story. Hopefully you'll be back in the saddle soon.
I recently sold my dream car in May 2006, my 89 Formula 350 Knight Rider conversion. Since it has left me and got safely to the guy who bought it in Nevada, I have pretty much severed all contact with the guy. I don't want to see any pics of it there or for him to tell me how sweet the car is. I think it would break my heart. I sure won't be running a CarFax on it now.

Launching!
A sad story. But look at the bright side, the new Camaro will be coming out soon. Start saving as much as you can. Hopefully you and your son can share good times and memories with a new Camaro.

tracking it down
I've been trying to find where it is does not seem to be an easy thing to do. I do know the insurance co. that covered it. Wonder if I could get someone from there to tell me?
I'd love to take the motor and tranny out and put it in the 91 Z28! Thats my ultimate plan anyway is to put in and LS motor w/6speed.

Very sad story. But its time to move on to a new baby. Its like having kids. You can love more than one.
I say you do a lot of searching for a SOM SS that is bone stock or almost bone stock.

yea that sucks man but i would move on to a new car and forget it you made the decision to get rid of it a long time ago. Its not yours anymore you got the money for it instead so just get another car. I have had this happen with a few car i sold them and have seen them just go to ****, but it happens.

That really really sucks. Now you won't feel bad abusing the next one.. because you never know how long you have with itl.
