Hey guys,

I have a 94 celica that I drive maybe twice a year when i come home. I havent changed the oil in two years because it only gets maybe 200 miles for the two times i come home each year for a few weeks.

So I have maybe 800 miles on the oil in the car but Im wondering does oil go bad when it just sits there?

Im about to drive it to texas about 1200 miles and Im thinking of changing the oil but I figure if sitting doesnt hurt it theres no reason to. Any ideas?

It doesn't really go 'bad' , but it will collect alot of moisture in that time...especially if not garaged in dry.

I would recommed changing it before your trip. Oil does collect moisture, as stated. Since you don't drive it that much I recommend that you change it aleast 1 time a year just to be safe.

For 200 miles of driving, once a year should be enough.

Well oil breaks down over time... so if you havent changed your oil in 6 months or driven 3k

alright cool. Thanks for the replies guys. I changed it but left the oil filter since it only had 1000 miles on it.
