LS1Z2800

Just out of curiosity what would the completely "bone" stock down to the paper air filter LS1, LS2, LS6 and LS7 put down in terms of hp with the old gross hp rating system. While I can't speak for the rest of my LSx brethren, I have a 2000 Z28 and think that the LS1 would probably be in the neighborhood of just over 400 hp. What you guys think? Chime in and let me know.

I cant remember exactly but its either 345 or 350 hp at the crank

The pre-1971 "Gross" horsepower ratings were done with a stripped down engine. They usually had no accessories, no exhaust, and no emissions equipment. This kind of test would probably boost the 345 S.A.E. net horsepower rating of the LS1 by 20-30 H.P. ish. It's a nice conversation piece, but that kind of test isn't really useful in the real world.

If I remember right, it was around 400HP in a copy of GMHTP I saw a few months back.

Do you know exactly the issue of GMHTP? This kind of put this into perspective old and new school muscle. Still wouldn't mind a 1970 Hemi-Cuda though.
