No matter what, **** happens. My car is in GREAT SHAPE and had several mechanics, one of which is ASE master and very near GOLD certified say it was cherry. It really is. I still had a water pump, fuel pump, and wheel bearing go out on me. I only have 78K miles. Water pumps and fuel pumps are known to die in GM cars 75-120K miles. That and most 6-speed trannies die at around 80K or so according to everything I have heard from people who build them...thank got my T56 is in GREAT shape and NO grinding AT ALL! Its just luck of the draw. I am over my anger and understand that now. Imperfect machine made by imperfect beings, you do the math.

i got the best of both worlds... woman driven, man serviced - 21K miles when bought. that gave me a HUGE STUPID GRIN.

i prefer as new as possible with low mileage as far as used cars go.

yes you can find a higher mileage car in good shape but i prefer a lower mileage, newer car. whatever it is always check everything over as thoroughly as possible. especially fbodies for obvious reasons.

I hope this isn't the terrible reliability you were talking about. water/fuel pumps, bearings....theyre all just wearing parts. nothing lasts forever, especially in a near 2 ton car being driven every day. cars, EVERY car, needs regular maintance, which is beyond oil/filters/plugs. things wear out, things like pumps, bearings, altenators, etc. no matter how people may rave about some 'incredible' honda with astounding reliability....that too has wearing parts, like bearings, seals, mounts, pumps, etc. I had an 89 Beretta GT for my first car....I loved the hell out of it. daily drove for over 6 years. nothing EVER went wrong with it, at ALL....execpt for a trans mount, 2 batteries, 2 altenators, 3 mufflers, and one coil. all of which were wearing, replacable parts. the car itself, the motor itself, was 100% reliable. things happen, yeah....doesnt mean you got unlucky because your car needed a wheel bearing. dont get dejected or the wrong idea because parts that are supposed to wear out, did. im not preaching, just stating.

sounds like me lol... bought mine around 74k now has just over 80. and um yea the tranny went at 78 so just somethin to watch for. cant exactly explain it i was on it and it just died.....

anyways definitely look at the physical condition and integrity of stuff like the Paint, and interior/engine and such to see how it was maintained. but mainly id try to get one that has the best overall paint u can find (ex. not a lot of small sand dings n scratches on the headlight eyelids and such)

I'd say around 80 assuming the car hasn't been beaten on, and maybe was a daily driver for the last person, but seriously you can never tell for sure. I know it's somewhat hard to come across these cars w/real low miles and if you do, you're paying for it, I don't think I'd want to DD a car under those conditions. But if it's mostly highway miles, 100k isn't bad by today's standards IMO. I would try to shoot for somewhere between 60-80k if possible, trying to stay a little bit away from the 100k mark, but just because of that doesn't mean the car is a total POS. Every one is different.

I bought mine with 45 on the clock and daily drove it for a year, I just recently got another car so I can start modding the z, but I never had a problem with it, I put up to 10k on it! Don't ask me how, I think everything is just really far away in this town or something .

Well my first T/A was my daily driver and I bought it with 88,000. It was a 94 and ran like it was new until I sold it 3 years later with 108,000 miles, even then I wouldn't have thought twice about taking it anywhere. My 99 T/A only has 44,000 miles and it's also my daily driver but I have just driven it 2400 miles to Florida and back and will be doing it again, it ran flawless. So as long as it's maintained properly it should be ok.

Who cares! Whatever parts break you can just mod with better ones!
I would try to go for one under 70K though.

I wouldn't mind higher mileage for a daily driver as long as it's somewhat clean and runs well, seeing as how DD duty will take its toll on the car (some worse than others pending location).

Thats the truth, to a degree. I bought my SS with 188k on it, actually less because it has a small gear and the speedo wasnt corrected, but I show 191k now.

If you buy a used car, you HAVE to be sittin on a little cash to get it all in line and up to par. Some things always pop up on used cars, especially these cars. You have to be an enthusiast to own one, really.

i had 42k on my car when i bought it, motor went out when it reached 45k...soooo
