Default 317 Heads

Kinda new to the LS side of the house..what's up with these Heads, why are they so special? I am about to buy a Truck 6.0, are these the Castings that are on it?

They are "special" because they flow similarly to an LS6 head, but they also lower the compression ratio for boosted applications. The heads chamber measures 72cc, versus the LS1 chamber size of 68cc. Since 2001, the LQ4 and LQ9 have used the 317 heads, previous to 2001 the LQ4 used iron heads.
