i see nothing with saying that my $25k car has the same engine as a $50k car, considering the engine is mostly what makes the vette so cool.

those poor XLR owners, when they get asked if that has a vette engine, they have to say, no my $80k car came with a northstar. lol

Well I can see it being used when explaining to someone who doesnt know what an LTx/LSx is, for example if you tell someone who doesnt know much about cars that you have an LS1 under the hood they might just stand there and nood their head - not knowing what it is... or you can add "its the same engine used in 97-04 Corvettes" and then they might start getting the idea.

You must really want to see the tail lights of a C5...

Here so you can start getting used to the view, only being this close will be a very short time frame...

I was at a car lot looking around..

There was a 98 F bod in the back..it was wrecked w/ 90K miles..

So I was goin to ask the guy about it..

He says:

"Well I bought that thing for $5K(rip off),all I want is the engine to put into another Camaro I have in the back...You know thats an 350 LT1 corvette engine right?"

So I just noded my head and walked away, lol

Also...Since the LS1 is a vette engine, can't the LT1 and TPI guys says they have vette engines too?

Dammit. I was refering to stock LS1 Corvettes. I would like to run a Z06 though for a baseline.

If the f-body and the corvette have different engine's. But i have seen a 2001 c5 dyno the same as a 2001 ws6 which was 320 rwhp.

i can one-up your stories on here:

i bring my car home and my dad, after looking it over thoroughly, says with a know-it-all attitude: "that thing is fast because it's so light and has the same motor as my truck"

(...referring to his STOCK '98 silverado...)

yeah that's right, my 2000 SS Camaro came with an all-iron 350" TBI vortec motor....

i said "really...?" he says "yeah." i opened the hood of his truck and compared the two side by side.

"huh...i guess you were right. i wonder why my intake manifold looks different and the block/heads seem to be alluminum? oh well...."

Yeah I've had my fair share of...

"Does that thing have the corvette motor in it?" ME: No, they both have LS1s

or "Oh man, that thing has the W6 engine don't it?" ME: It's an LS1

"LT1?" ME: No, LS1...it's better, trust me.

I just wish people that know very little would stop trying to act like they know everything.

Technically the LT1, LT4, LT5, LS1, LS6, LS2 and LS7 were designed for the Vette and are considered Corvette motors. The LT1 and LS1 were introduced first in the Vette, then into the F-body and carry the same option numbers. So in a literal sense they are not engines removed from actual Corvettes, but still are considered a Corvette motor.

I actually saw dyno numbers printed in a mag once, showing a WS66 putting out more power than a Vette. Granted those aren' t typical results, but I guess it could be possible. The WS6 could be a total ringer, and the Vette, could a little sub-standard.
